Mr Matlala Setlhalogile is a lecturer in Public Policy. He has been part of policy advisory work for government, projects focusing on South Africa’s political economy, Governance in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), the assessment of South Africa’s policy and regulatory frameworks, and Political Risk Analysis for entities in the Financial Services Sector, Extractive Industries, and Telecommunications.

He holds an MA Politics (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg and is currently studying towards his PhD. His work experience spans across academia and the consulting industry. Prior to joining the WSG, Matlala was a Senior Associate at Tutwa Consulting Group.

He has published peer reviewed publications in journals, book chapters and co-authored various policy reports. Among his notable projects is the co-development of the Internationalisation Strategy and Policy Framework for the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD). He also regularly provides political analysis on media outlets.
