Message from our Executive Education Acting Director

Welcome to our Executive Education page. If you landed here intentionally, that is great. It means you are curious about empowering yourself with knowledge. It shows you are taking steps to enhance state capacity because governance matters.

If you are got here accidentally, that’s fine too. Welcome, explore our page and learn about the number of executive education courses we offer and consider joining Africa’s leading School of Governance.

I am Raesetsa Hopane, the Business Development Manager and Acting Director of the Executive Education.

Across the globe, leaders are facing unprecedented challenges: digital transformation, climate change, socio-economic inequality, and demands for more transparent governance. In Africa, deficiencies in state capacity on the continent continue to undermine the ability of Africa states to optimally deliver services to its people and build confidence in the state. As institutions of higher education and training, we have a responsibility to contribute to enhance the capacity of the state. Public sector leaders are expected to be agile and innovative in responding to the challenges of the day and do so with integrity with very little support for training This makes executive education, in 2025 and beyond, in the public sector even more critical.

At WSG Executive Education, we prepare you for a changing and increasingly complex global environment.  Our executive courses provide practical skills grounded in academic excellence, enabling you to lead effectively, manage teams, and improve service delivery while upholding the principles of governance and public policy.

We are excited to announce that we have reimagined our Corporate Affairs course we launched in 2024. Now called the Executive Development Programme - Corporate Affairs, participants will get an opportunity to join our Global Immersion Trip to University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. As part of the trip, they will get to connect with other Corporate Affairs executives and Sustainability practitioners from around the world at Cambridge. .

All our executive courses are designed with global trends in mind, striking a balance between theory and practice. The core of our curriculum is guided by the school’s curriculum anchored in three thematic learning areas:

  • Governance and Public Good
  • Political Economy and Development
  • Leadership and Management

Our facilitators—seasoned academics and skilled practitioners—bring real-world insights that enrich your learning experience. We continuously look to enrich your learning experience, and this we will welcome several seasoned executives into our open enrolment programmes, and they will, together with our core team of facilitators, deliver on our promise to you. And that is to  LEARN, CONNECT, and DELIVER. This is our promise to you. We will create an enabling environment that fosters peer learning, provide opportunities for you to network and build lifelong communities of practice, and lastly, to empower you as senior leaders in government, development sector, and civil society, with practical skills you need lead and manage effectively, deliver services to our citizens, while upholding principles of good governance and public good.
